Back when life was (relatively) normal, I spent a morning at the DTC guiding the students through our annual 3D printing practical! Some interesting proteins were chosen this year, including some very large complexes – after fighting with such large files for a few hours I bet the students wished they had been less ambitious, but I think it was worth it!
The models shown in the image above are the following proteins (left to right, top to bottom):
- tobacco mosaic virus (PDB entry 6R7M)
- chaperonin complex GroEL (1AON)
- antibody (1IGT)
- DNA polymerase (6NKR)
- mechanosensitive channel Piezo1 (6B3R)
- toll-like receptor 3 ectodomain complexed with double-stranded RNA (3CIY)
- ebola glycoprotein in complex with a broadly neutralizing human antibody (6MAM)
